Today’s info bite comes via Create Digital Music, and it’s about the open source RGB grid controller Bhoreal, being developed by Spanish interaction and technology studio MID, who’ve just wrapped up a crowd funding campaign for it.
The controller is open-source, its applications are crowd-sourced, it cam come with RGB LEDs and wireless connectivity, and it’s apparently dirt cheap (around 140 euros/ 180 USD gets you a DIY kit so that you can build it yourself). So it’s basically a monome, but with more functionality and more financially accessible, which is a good thing.
The MID guys demonstrated all sorts of applications of the Bhoreal at the SONAR festival, where they had it control a huge robot and a laser show. Sweet. Open source FTW!
