Novation releases the Launchkey, two new iPad apps
The Launchkey is the latest release from Novation, being marketed as “the next generation” instrument for computer and iPad. Sporting 16 velocity sensitive Launchpad-style pads, as well as 8 potentiometers, 9 faders (only 1 on the 25-key version)and a bunch of other buttons.
While not much different from other Novation keyboard controllers like the Impulse or the (timeless) SL MkII, the feature that sets the Launchkey apart from the others is by far the iPad integration. I comes with two music performance apps: the Launchpad and the Launchkey, both standalone, thus having the potential to remove the need for a laptop computer in certain live situations. While the Launchkey app is a virtual synth, the Launchpad app is a loop station packed with sounds and beats ready to be combined and effected into tracks or live performances.
The Launchkey connects to the iPad via a standard Apple Camera Connection kit.
