• Novation announces Launchpad Pro

Today (right on the heels of the recent 5 Years of Launchpad celebration), Novation have announced the newest entry to their Launch family of products – the Launchpad Pro.

Novation has held back nothing in this expansion of the now classic Launchpad. They’ve enhanced the familiar grid layout with velocity/pressure sensitivity & RGB lighting. Other notable additions: a chromatic keyboard layout, and a standalone mode so that we can easily use it with any software we want!

I’m beyond excited for this! The Launchpad is my favorite controller. It’s picture in the guitar magazines I looked at years ago is what initially attracted me to this wonderful world of controllerism. I’ve been hoping to see velocity sensitivity since I covered Launchpad95 a couple of years ago. I take my Mini with me everywhere and I’ve been using J74 ISO so that I can use it with Cubase, and Reason in addition to Ableton Live. So, I’m glad to see standalone mode, because it will definitely make integrating it into whatever setup I’m using easier.

I can’t wait to get my hands on one! With that said, I don’t think that Novation has officially announced the price yet, but Music Radar says it will retail for $300 when it begins to ship in the Spring.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Here’s a wonderful overview from Novation:
