Punktronica emancipates DJing with CTRLTAR
I recently came across Dallas based artist Punktronica (Timothy Pollux) on a flyer for a friendâs event. One look at him and his massive blinking wearable controller, the CTRLTAR, had me wanting to know more.

Shakey: What Is the CTRLTAR?
Punktronica: The definition of a CTRLTAR, in my mind, is any DJing device that can be worn and played like a guitar. I took a two year break from DJing and did synthesizer only gigs, at the end of this period I thought that if I was going to DJ again, I would have to do it differently than anyone else, that is when I invented the CTRLTAR. So my idea was to combine both playing the keyboard and djing  seamlessly.
S: Why did you choose to build the CTRLTAR the way you did?
P: For the CTRLTAR, I selected parts that were both lightweight and have indicator lights. I picked the layout based on efficiency. It”s not designed to win awards on complexity, not overloaded with extra knobs and buttons for show. Just the right amount of options for the way I want to play in my sets. It feels natural when you strap it on. Your right hand conducts the entire set on the Novation Launchpad. The mixer and keyboard is laid out in the middle. The Novation Nocturn is there for picking synths, effects, etc. Then the neck is for scratching with your left hand. The body The online casino operator’s decision to set up an IPO may also be credited towards the robust gains it received included in the Chinese gambling city’s record-breaking run this year, signaling a sustained degree of strength even while the enclave saw a decelerate of their Very important personel and-curler clientele. is built with steel. I”ve had this one for a year and its been very durable so far. Its pretty online casino heavy even with using the lightest weight materials possible at 25 pounds.

S: How do you manage to not look at the computer screen when you play?
P: The CTRLTAR is connected via USB running Ableton Live. Cable snakes keep it protected. A custom template on Ableton allows me to play without looking at the screen. It requires a little memorizing before playing a set. Everything has indicator lights on it so you can see what is active or not.
S: The CTRLTAR seems like a pretty unique idea, what was your inspiration or influence viagra soft for building it?
P: There is absolutely no controllerism scene or live PA community in my area. If there is, itâs a handful of people hiding in a bunker somewhere. I believe what I am doing is completely unique to the whole world. To take DJing out of the booth and for the audience to see what you are actually doing in their face!
I”m trying to change the way people DJ. I think thereâs new entertaining ways to play music with todayâs technology. We are in the most interesting time period for live PA and DJing. I think five years from now everyone will be playing on contraptions and touchscreens! I gain inspiration from everything I see and hear. I”m really happy to see one of my ideas actually work. I doubted it when I first thought of it because I didn”t know if it was possible! I”m working on some
